IU is one of the most prolific singers and songwriters in K-Pop these days. For her songs, she draws inspiration from her own real-life milestones and experiences, as well as her relationships with other people. In a recent interview, IU reveals that she's written several songs about her best friend and former f(x) member Sulli.
Speaking about her latest album, "CHAT-SHIRE," IU shares that the song "Red Queen" was inspired by a picture Sulli drew for her. Sulli's drawing became the motif of the album and was featured heavily on the photos for the album. However, it isn't the first time the 23-year-old singer wrote a song about Sulli.
According to Koreaboo, IU wrote "Peach" in 2012 with Sulli in mind. The song, which tells the story of a man falling in love with a beautiful girl during their first encounter, is about Sulli. In a comment, Sulli confirmed that the song is about her and that she was "a bit embarrassed because all of the lyrics were compliments." In 2012, Sulli performed "Peach" in the drama series "To the Beautiful You."
IU and Sulli's friendship blossomed when they co-hosted "Ingkigayo" in March 2011. During interviews and variety shows, IU and Sulli would constantly complement one another, with IU commenting that Sulli is the prettiest K-Pop star and vice versa.
Meanwhile, Sulli recently came under fire after former KARA member Hara posted a photo of them that was taken during the same shoot where they wore the controversial Johnson's baby oil shirt together. Allkpop reports that Sulli responded to the recent wave of comments, saying "Enough is enough. Go criticize somewhere else and just look at my pretty face."
In August this year, the Johnson's baby oil shirt caused outrage for being inappropriate and "Lolita"-themed as both girls were tightly pressed under the t-shirt and appeared like they weren't wearing any pants.
