"Elysium" actress Jodie Foster is in talks to star in "Iron Man 3" writer Drew Pearce's near-future crime thriller "Hotel Artemis." Pearce will be directing from his own script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foster will play a character called the nurse in "Hotel Artemis." She is expected to bring something special to the film.
"Hotel Artemis" makes Pearce's feature directorial debut. It is defined as a thriller set in its own distinctive crime universe. Plot details of the film are still kept under wraps, Variety reported.
Adam Siegel and Marc Platt are producing "Hotel Artemis" via Marc Platt Productions, and Simon and Stephen Cornwell are producing for The Ink Factory. Becky Sloviter of The Ink Factory is overseeing with Pearce to executive produce through his Point of No Return production banner.
Platt noted that he worked with Foster on Jonathan Demme's crime film "The Silence of the Lambs" and family drama "Little Man Tate." He said that Foster is an accomplished artist in every way. Both Platt and Siegel are looking forward to collaborate with her in "Hotel Artemis."
Stephen said that having Foster in "Hotel Artemis" is a real coup since she is an extraordinary talent. He also said that Pearce's vision is unique.
Foster has won two Academy Awards for Jonathan Kaplan's film "The Accused" and "The Silence of the Lambs." She most recently directed "Money Monster" starring "Gravity" actor George Clooney and "Secret in their Eyes" actress Julia Roberts. She is next directing an episode of Charlie Brooker's satirical drama series "Black Mirror" Season 4, which already started production and will premiere in 2017.
Pearce also wrote Marvel's sci-fi film "Iron Man 3" and Christopher McQuarrie's thriller "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation." He is represented by WME and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
"Hotel Artemis" is scheduled to start filming in May or June. It will be financed by The Ink Factory.
