With the advent of 2017, it looks like we'll be getting a lot of good anime, one of which will be "Blue Exorcist" Season 2. It's been quite a long time since the first season had its debut back in Apr. 17, 2011. What's even more fun, in line with the "Black Butler" anime franchise having its second film, there seems to be collaboration between the two franchises in one of the most unique way possible.
Reports detail that "Blue Exorcist" protagonists Rin and Yukio Okumura have swapped outfits with "Black Butler's" Sebastian Michaelis and Grell Sutcliff, resulting to one of the most awesome crossover looks. This is in line with their promotion of the "Blue Exorcist Kyoto Arc" TV anime, debuting Jan. 6, and Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic anime movie, premiering on Jan. 21.
There's even a special site featuring the voice actors of all four of those characters (Nobuhiko Okamoto, Jun Fukuyama, Daisuke Ono and Jun Fukuyama again) being in character in recorded messages with each of them imitating each other. In addition to that, there will be some promotional art that will be featured in at the Tokyo Metro Shinjuku Station Metro Promenade from Jan. 2 - 8.
Speaking of the "Blue Exorcist Kyoto Arc," here's the basic premise of the upcoming season:
"Assiah, the realm of humans, and Gehenna, the realm of demons. Normally, these two dimensions would never intersect, but having possessed all material substances, the demons are now intruding on the material world. But among the human race, there are those who can exorcise such demons-the exorcists.
Rin Okumura kept the fact that he was Satan's offspring a secret from everyone and decided to become an exorcist. He began his training at True Cross Academy but following the incidents involving Amaimon's raid, his lineage became apparent. Fearing his true nature and the blue flames marking his connection to Gehenna, Rin's classmates all distanced themselves from him. Meanwhile, the academy was on high alert when they realized that the 'Left Eye of the Impure King' had been stolen! What lies ahead for Rin and his classmates?"
