South Indian star Danush, who entered the mainstream Indian cinemas with "Ranjhana," will soon be seen in a Hollywood movie. The popular South Indian star will be sharing the screen space with famous Hollywood stars, Uma Thurman and Alexandra Daddario.
The yet-untitled movie will be directed by acclaimed graphic novelist-turned-filmmaker Marjane Satrapi of "Persepolis" fame. It will be an adaptation of Romain Puertolas's French bestseller "The Extraordinary Journey Of A Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Cupboard."
The movie will also star Gemma Arterton, Barkhad Abidi, Abel Jafri and Seema Biswas, who will portray Dhanush's mother. Dhanush's love interest will be played by Daddario from "True Detectives."
The movie is slated for a 2017 release. Shooting for the same will begin on June 22 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a place that will be featured prominently in the movie.
Meanwhile, Satrapi could not stop gushing about her newly-found leading man.
"Dhanush has these almond eyes, ravishing smile, a big acting range and an extremely expressive face," Satrapi told Scroll.in before further adding that she has seen Dhanush embracing his each and every role.
Satrapi also claimed to have watched lots of Indian actors before zeroing down on Dhanush. She has admittedly watched 17 of Dhanush's films, including his Hindi debut "Raanjhana," before finalizing him for the lead.
"Dhanush is my dream actor and he is made for this role," Satrapi told Huffington Post India. She also praised Biswas, calling her another great actress.
The movie will tell the story of 38-year-old Ajatshatru Oghash Rathod, a 'fakir' from Rajasthan, played by Dhanush, who tricks his village into sponsoring his travel to Paris, from where he purports to buy a bed of nails from IKEA.
Talking about the movie, Satrapi also revealed that for the first time, she will shooting a movie in more than one country starring four actors from "four different continents."
Dhanush was last seen with Amitabh Bachchan in "Shamitabh,"and is awaiting eagerly for the release of three of his Tamil films - "Kodi," "Rail" and "Vada Chennai" - before he starts the shooting of his Hollywood debut.
