Actor/singer Lim Chang Jung's recent marriage to his pregnant girlfriend, Ms. Seo, has received a barrage of negative comments from netizens.
Jung, 43, and 25-year-old Seo, who is a yoga instructor by profession, tied the knot in Seoul, Gangnam on Jan. 6, Friday. In September, Jung confirmed that he and Seo were in a relationship but the news took many by surprise due to the 18-year age gap between the couple.
In November, it was revealed that Seo was pregnant with Jung's child and the baby was expected to arrive mid-May. The actor/singer's marriage to Seo is not his first. He was previously married to pro-golfer Kim Hyun Joo for seven years before the couple called it quits in 2013. The couple had three children together, according to Soompi.
Getting married for the second time to a young woman nearly two decades younger would be normal in Hollywood, but in Korea, it is frowned upon. Not long after Jung and Seo said their vows, a series of disparaging comments were aimed at the newlyweds.
"If I were the bride's mom, I'd be so upset.. She's turned into a mother of 4 right after marriage," All Kpop quoted a netizen as saying. One of them commented saying that Jung and Seo looked like uncle and niece. "They're ripping the hearts of the bride's parents. She has become a mother of 3 + a baby on the way... She's entering the gates of hell," said another netizen.
Jung and Seo's wedding was a very private affair with the likes of Oh Ji Ho and Byun Jung Soo in attendance. K-Pop groups including U-KISS, LABOUM DJ DOC and Leessang were also present. Doosan Bears' Yoo Hee Kwan and singers K.Will and Wheesung sang the congratulatory song at the event.
