Xiaomi finally made its presence felt in CES for the first time ever and one first product announcements in the annual electronics event is the Mi Router HD - a powerful router built for home with enterprise capabilities. It comes with impressive specs and price but could have limited commercial availability.
Mi Router HD Specs
Xiaomi's Mi Router HD pushes the hardware capabilities of a router as it brings comes with top of the line specs. According to First Post, under its aluminum alloy housing is network speed capability of up to 2600mbps with 4x4 MIMO router that could also good for multi-user set-up. This means the router could be personalized for wide variety of functions and coverage is considered wide due to its four PCB antennas.
Speaking of functions, it's internal is not only equipped for high speed data wireless transfer. The upcoming wireless networking device can also be used for surveillance because of its internal storage capability. Those interested could choose to have the entry level router with 1TB of storage or could go for something with bulk in storage for 8TB.
The routers released by Xiaomi could be controlled easily through their application. It also serves to connect the user to various Xiaomi-related products already and soon to be available in the market.
Availability and Price
Interested customers are expected to shell out no less than $200 for the 1TB version and $500 for 8TB version according to GSM Arena. Although the specs are impressive, it could be some time before it hits shelves outside China. The recent announcement of Xiaomi is only of China customers.
There is a possibility that it could reach the US shores or any other country outside China. Their presence in CES alone offers hope for those who wanted to try out other interesting electronics Xiaomi has to offer aside from their mobile devices.
