Fans have been anticipating the release of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 on TV. Recently, rumors surfaced that the instalment premieres on Jan. 9, 2017, although creator Justin Roiland was quick to squash these claims.
Roiland called these reports about the Jan. 9 release date for "Rick and Morty" Season 3 false. The co-creator and voice actor for the series denied the release of the instalment on the said date.
"As far as I know (and I would know) season three does not air Jan 9th. Go ahead and Jodie Arias me," Roiland tweeted.
According to Tripped Media, Roiland's post came after IMDB listed "Rick and Morty" Season 3 for a Jan. 9 release date. However, the site has since taken down this information following the creator's tweet.
Roiland and co-creator Dan Harmon have yet to reveal an exact release date for "Rick and Morty" Season 3. Fans had expected to see the show return in August and in December last year, but that did not happen. Likewise, the showrunners have remained tight-lipped about the premiere. It is expected though that the instalment will air sometime in 2017.
Regardless, the creators of the Adult Swim series already teased what fans should expect to see in the show. Old characters will return in "Rick and Morty" Season 3 including Mr. Meeseeks. The loveable character first appeared in the Season 1 episode "Meeseeks and Destroy."
Harmon said in a past interview that he and Roiland have plans to put the blue creature in a spoof of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." If not, then they could always find another episode for Mr. Meeseeks in "Rick and Morty" Season 3.
"We can also do an episode where it's not about that as a topic and just have him like Dr. Seuss, use him as a tool. As long as it tracks for a first time viewer, oh, I guess that's some kind of guy that says, 'I'm Mr. Meeseeks' and does his thing," Harmon said as quoted by Slashfilm.
