BEAST is now under the management Around US Entertainment after the members' contracts with Cube Entertainment expired in October last year. Since their transfer, there have been copyright issues concerning the group's name and their songs. During Kikwang and Dongwoon's appearance on tvN's "Raid the Convenience Store," such concerns became apparent.
On the show, Kikwang and Dongwoon struggled with not being able to use BEAST to introduce themselves. Instead, Kikwang was introduced as an actor and Dongwoon was introduced as a multi-entertainer, Koreaboo reported.
Kikwang and Dongwoon didn't let the issue get in the way and laughed it off along with the host. They even joked that it was "only a short time ago" when they switched jobs. They also gave brief updates on what the group is currently up to. Kikwang revealed that they were still taking some time to recharge while working on new songs at the same time.
After they left Cube Entertainment, the members of BEAST surrendered the right to their group name to the agency. The songs they produced as BEAST are also still under the ownership of Cube.
The issues regarding copyrights and legalities regarding the group's name and songs have caused fans to worry. "I think the road ahead might be more dangerous and more treacherous than it was until now but we will be leading from the front so follow us and do not worry," Doojoon told the fans, as translated by Koreaboo.
Despite these issues, the members of BEAST remain in good terms with Cube Entertainment. In a statement, member Yoseob thanked Cube Entertainment CEO Hong Seung Sung for helping the group set up their independent music label.
BEAST launched Around US Entertainment in December 2016. The group was under Cube Entertainment for seven years. BEAST debuted with the song "Bad Girl" in 2009.
