Ewan McGregor is set to reprise his iconic role as Renton in "T2 Trainspotting." While the trailer shows his return to form, he recently revealed his worry in returning to the character after two decades.

Reprising the Scottish Role

Ewan McGregor returns as Renton after two decades since the initial release of "Trainspotting." The movie became the quintessential film of the 90s as it perfectly depicts the decade - excess with pessimism but somehow with an outlook that everything could be in its place in the end. Although it is set in Edinburgh, the message still resonate the idea of the decade.

Renton's return to Edinburgh is the reason why McGregor has some worries about his character. According to The Guardian the actor worries that he might not be "Scottish enough" to play the role. He then reveals that he left Scotland at the age of 17 and he only returns to the country annually to be with his parents and friends.

Return to Leighton

McGregor also revealed that he is somehow connected to Renton since he is returning to the same character after more than two decades. According to CinemaBlend "T2 Trainspotting" is practically told in real time since it will also feature Renton's return to Leighton, Edinburgh. As he return to the village, he will stir up emotions from the past as he meets his old friends.

Fans of the original "Trainspotting" should be excited of the upcoming sequel of the popular cult film from the 90s. The original cast is back to reprise their role and people behind the camera that made the film endearing after decades it was first released are also back. Danny Boyle is going to direct the movie once again which means it will have the same feel like the original but with characters who have wised up over time.

"T2 Trainspotting" is set for UK release on Jan 27.
