Director James Mangold tweeted a new set of character pictures from "Logan," along with a 25-second clip of the soundtrack from composer Marco Beltrami.
While the second trailer for "Logan" hasn't been released yet, Mangold dropped new teasers in his Twitter account. The new images feature a striking look at the characters of Wolverine, Professor X and Laura Kinney, a mysterious new mutant called X-23, the female clone of Wolverine himself. The director also provided a snippet of the movie's score, which evokes a gripping and intensely haunting moment, as per ScreenCrush.
Mangold also addressed the lack of the second trailer so far, given the number of tweets addressed to him asking for its release. While directors have a lot of control over the movie, the one thing they do not have is the dates of release for the trailers. That would fall under corporate planning, depending on the plans for worldwide distribution of the film, according to Slash Film.
Unlike previous Wolverine films, "Logan" shows a different side to his character. From the teasers released so far, Wolverine is depicted as having aged considerably and dealing with chronic pain, which is a deviation for most superhero films. Particularly for Wolverine's character, as one of his defining characteristics apart from his adamantium claws is his accelerated healing. Mangold has stated that Wolverine's advanced age affects his abilities, which aren't as good as they used to be, Empire reported.
Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine for 17 years already, and this movie will be his last for the X-men mutant. As his final movie for the character, "Logan" is said to be different in tone from his previous Wolverine films.
The wait for the second teaser will soon be over, as "Logan" is set to be released on Mar. 3, 2017.
