Apple introduce new feature to monitor screen brightness in the new beta verson of MacOS Sierra 10.12.3. The new feature is able to reduce display brightness to extend battery life.
The new feature was first reported by the Mac Rumors on Monday, Jan. 16. Apple uses the feature to reduce display brightness to extend battery life, because the company advertise that its MacBook Pro models are able to withstand 10 hours of battery life. However, the result may vary in every users because of many factors such as display brightness and other variables.
Cupertino-based company released the fourth beta version to testers in the second week of January with the new feature to extend battery life. Its battery saving feature provides lists of apps which used a significant power in the MacOS menu bar under battery menu. This enable users to monitor the battery draining apps.
In order to activate the display brightness reduction, according to Apple Insider, users only need to click Display Brightness warning. This will automatically reduce the screen brightness to 75 percent. The feature will also reduce the brightness to 75 percent when the beta version is installed on the MacBook with higher brightness level.
Apple have been troubled by battery problem in MacBook Pro series lately, as many customers have complained that their MacBook Pro did not have a long battery life as advertised. Further investigation showed that the hidden settings in the Safari browsers are responsible to reduce the battery life. Customers also criticized MacBook Pro with USB-C that were reported to have a lower than anticipated battery life.
MacBook Pro has been the top of the line of Apple laptop computer since its introduction in 2006. The series is the replacement of the PowerBook series that used IBM Motorola processor. The MacBook Pro is one of the first computers which used Intel processor until now.
