"Battlestar Galactica" alum Michael Trucco joins Netflix pot-themed multi-camera workplace comedy series "Disjointed" in a recurring role. He is the latest addition to the said series from Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
According to TV Line, Trucco will play a vehement marijuana oppose Tae Kwon Doug in "Disjointed." His character Doug is also a local martial arts instructor whose dojang is located next door to the Alternative Caring shop of his rival Ruth ("American Horror Story" vet Kathy Bates).
"Disjointed" centers on Bates' character Ruth who is a lifelong advocate for legalization. Ruth is finally living her dream as the owner of a Los Angeles-area cannabis dispensary. She joins three budtenders ("Fifty Shades of Black" actress Elizabeth Ho as Jenny, "Upper Middle Bogan" alum Dougie Baldwin as Pete, and "Better Off Single" actress Elizabeth Alderfer as Olivia), her twentysomething son, and a deeply troubled security guard, who are more or less constantly high.
"The Big Bang Theory" producer Chuck Lorre and "The Daily Show" producer David Javerbaum are executive producing "Disjointed" with John Myrick as associate producer and Chris Arrington as line producer. They are also penning the script of a 20-episode straight-to-series order, in which Netflix ordered in July 2016.
Trucco's recent TV credits include guest stints on "Grandfathered" (2016), "Scandal" (2014), and "Code Black" (2015). He also boarded and is currently filming Original Film's submarine thriller "Hunter Killer," which stars Gerard Butler as an untested sub captain, Deadline reported. Repped by UTA and McKeon/Myones Entertainment, he will next appear in the feature film "Bye Bye Man."
On the other hand, Bates' most recent credits include "American Horror Story: Hotel" and "American Horror Story: Roanoke." For her last collaboration with Lorre, she won an Emmy for her guest role on CBS comedy series "Two and a Half Men" in 2012.
"Disjointed" nabbed a straight-to-series order for 20 half-hour episodes back in July. "The Glee Project" singer-actress Lily Mae Harrington will also be the younger version of Bates' character.
