"Joshy" comedian Brett Gelman plays as a disgraced journalist-turned conspiracy theorist in "Stranger Things" Season 2. He is coming to Hawkins for the Netflix hit sci-fi show, becoming him the latest new face to join.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gelman will play Murray Bauman who is investigating a cold case in the small Indiana town called Hawkins in "Stranger Things" Season 2. He joins the previously announced Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Linnea Berthelsen, Sadie Sink, and Dacre Montgomery.
The 1980s horror pastiche "Stranger Things" Season 2 has quickly turned into a phenomenon after its June debut on Netflix. The core Season 1 cast will be back as well, including breakout star Millie Bobby Brown as telekinetic girl Eleven, who is presumed dead after a fight with an interdimensional monster.
For Gelman's part, his "Stranger Things" casting comes days after he severed ties with his longtime home on Adult Swim. In addition to appearing in other Adult Swim series, he had a series of specials on the network, the last of which, "Brett Gelman's Dinner in America," due to be aired in July, Variety reported.
Gelman is represented by ICM Partners, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and Schreck Rose. His other recent credits include Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival, Amazon's "Fleabag," Comedy Central's "Another Period," "The Eric Andre Show," HBO's "High Maintenance," and "Married."
Gelman will also join a cast that includes new series regular Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) and Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), as well as Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Cara Buono (Karen), and Matthew Modine (Dr. Martin Brenner).
"Stranger Things" Season 2 is currently in production for a 2017 debut. Plot details remain scarce, though if the end of last season is anything to go by, poor young Will Byers is likely in for a rough time. However, the roles of Max and Billy are two of the three new faces expected to join the summer hit.
