"Arrival" actor Forest Whitaker is set to reprise his "Rogue One" character in Disney XD's animated series "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3. He will again lend his voice to the character.
According to Variety, Whitaker will voice the same character Saw Gerrera in "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 particularly episodes 11 and 12. He appeared in the two-part episode "Ghost of Geonosis."
The animated incarnation of the character Gerrera was previously featured on Cartoon Network's "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" as a guerilla fighter and was voiced by "The Lion Guard" voice actor Andrew Kishino. At that time, he received training from Jedi Anakin Skywalker ("Ultimate Spider-Man" actor Matt Lanter), Obi-Wan Kenobi ("Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy" voice actor James Arnold Taylor), and Ahsoka Tano ("Ultimate Spider-Man" actress Ashley Eckstein), TV Line reported.
"Star Wars Rebels" has been linked to the film world going back to the mid-2000s when the prequels were bowing in theaters. The character General Grievous also appeared in the animated series before showing up in the prequel "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith."
The hit film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" opened to number one at the box office on Dec. 16, 2016. It brought in $155 million in its opening weekend and has since crossed the $300 million worldwide marker in just four days.
"Inferno" actress Felicity Jones played as Jyn Erso in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." Besides Whitaker as Gerrera, other film cast members include "Elysium" actor Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), "The Dark Knight Rises" actor Ben Mendelsohn (Orson Krennic), "Doctor Strange" actor Mads Mikkelsen (Galen Erso), "Ip Man" star Donnie Yen (Chirrut Imwe), and "Frozen" voice actor Alan Tudyk (K-2SO).
Whitaker's episode "Star Wars Rebels: Ghost of Geonosis, Parts One and Two" aired on Jan. 7 in Disney XD.
