After the release of 2NE1's final song together, CL opened up what motivated her to write the song before the girl group has even decided to go on separate ways.

Allkpop reported CL admitted the song was supposed to be dedicated for Minzy after she departed from 2NE1 in April. The member added she personally wrote the song when the girl group was gearing up for a new release last year.

"It was a song that was supposed to be like a letter to Minzy. I edited the lyrics so it would be talking to both Minzy and the fans at the same time," CL said.

But before they could even release a new album, YG Entertainment announced 2NE1's disbandment in November. Hence, CL edited her previous work and turned "Goodbye" as the girl group's farewell song to all Blackjacks.

She went on, "It didn't take me long to edit the lyrics because I move fast when someone is believing in me."

2NE1 officially bid their final "Goodbye" on Jan. 21. The song immediately earned an all-kill on several music charts including eight iTunes charts from across the pond, Soompi cited.

At the time of writing, 2NE1's "Goodbye" has been viewed over 4 million times with about 500,000 likes and almost 90,000 comments.

Meanwhile, CL admitted she would love a 2NE1 reunion just like what S.E.S did after so many years. "I think it could happen too. Of course, all four of us would have to agree, and our situations have to allow it. But if that day ever comes, I'll be so happy," she said.

After her journey with the girl group, CL is now planning to make her debut as a solo artist. She is also looking forward to release an album this year as well as do promotional activities.

CL promised her fans that she will repay their support with a new music soon. In another interview, the 2NE1 member was asked about rising girl group BLACKPINK, who has been branded as their successor.

The idol remembered they were also called as the "next BIGBANG" when 2NE1 debuted as a group in 2009; hence, CL said the comparison between them and BLACKPINK is just natural.

"I believe it shows that we have a lot of influence so I don't feel bad. BLACKPINK and 2NE1's colors are very different," she added.
