On Nov. 25, YG Entertainment announced the disbandment of 2NE1 after over seven years.
According to Soompi, after 2NE1's contract with YG Entertainment ended in May, and the departure of Minzy from the band, the label has come up with the decision to disband the popular girl group.
"As 2NE1 was YG's official girl group for seven years, we cannot begin to express how we feel, but we determined that it was too difficult to continue. Rather than waiting an unknown amount of time for 2NE1's next promotions, we have decided to focus on the members' solo activities," YG Entertainment said.
The label also thanked the Blackjacks for their all-out support to 2NE1 for the past seven years. YG Entertainment added they have resigned CL and Dara, which means, the two idols will stay with the company.
Meanwhile, 2NE1's Dara wrote a letter to all Blackjacks to express how sad she is after the disbandment. Dara, who is currently judging in a reality singing competition in the Philippines, was captured in a video while handing a letter to fan.
Dara was heard saying, "Paki-share ito sa mga Blackjacks (Please share this to all Blackjacks)," Allkpop cited.
On the other hand, the 2NE1 member thanked and apologized to their fans in the letter. "I don't care what other people say, I wanna scream to the whole world that I love you," Dara wrote.
The 2NE1 member went on, "And I'm still falling in love with Blackjacks. Don't cry. Can't nobody hold us down. So, don't stop the music."
Dara added she will be missing their fans, telling them that the journey is not yet over. "I'm sorry and thank you Blackjacks from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely yours, Dara of 2NE1."
We will miss you, 2NE1!
