The much anticipated Japanese film “House of Neko Atsume” has recently released its trailer. And it appears a lot of surprises awaits the viewers, especially the large number of adorable cats.
Released on January 13, the 30-second teaser video opens with a charming image of a black cat. On the latter part, the heart-warming interaction of a man named Katsu Sakumoto towards many cats was shown.
“House of Neko Atsume” unfolds the story of a best-selling author Sakumoto who went to the countryside to refresh his mind due to a writer’s block. He ended up staying at a house where plenty of cats come to socialize, Polygon reported. The lead character is played by Japanese actor Atsushi Itō who is known for his roles in films like “Mozu”, “Team Batista Final: Kerberos no Shōzō ” and “Bokutachi no Kōkan Nikki”.
The film, which is set to open in theaters on April 8, is based on the popular free-to-play Japanese mobile game “Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector” developed by gaming company Hit-Point and was released on October 2014. It allows the players not only to collect cats but also take care of them, capture their cute moments and save it in an album, as well as receive gifts from them.
In fact, according to The Verge, the game became a “virtual craze” in Japan and received a rating of 7.0 Android rating. By the end of 2015, it had accumulated approximately 10 million downloads from IOS and Android combined.
Moreover, “Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector” also received several recognition from various award-giving sectors. In 2015, the game won the “Best Game Design” from the CESA Developers Conference (CEDEC) Awards and was proclaimed as the “Top 5 Mobile Games of 2015” by the video gaming website GameSpot.
