"Running Man" will continue running this year! SBS has confirmed that the popular show will carry on with its regular airing despite previous reports on its planned cancellation.
According to Allkpop, the network officially announced the status of the variety program after it was rumored that the show will stop airing this year due to controversies. In a statement released on Tuesday, SBS said "Running Man" will continue broadcasting with its six original cast members.
It can be remembered that the SBS show got involved in a series of controversies last year, which resulted to cancellations plans. A "Running Man" PD claimed the issue was a result of miscommunication among the staff and crew.
The PD added the issue even made the production team awkward around each other, while cast members were left in confusion on the direction of the variety program. Initial reports stated "Running Man" planned to wrap up in February, as cited by Soompi.
"SBS variety director Nam Seung Yong, who first led the creation of "Running Man" back in 2010, sat down with each of the members since the beginning of the year for some honest talk," it added.
The director reportedly apologized to the cast members over issues of revamping the show. As a result, the six original cast members of "Running Man" have agreed to continue working for the program.
Director Nam Seung Yong also promised to make the show even more entertaining for their Korean and foreign supporters.
"I thank the "Running Man" members for making a decision which must have been difficult to make, and we will do our best to greet viewers who have loved "Running Man" for the last 7 years," he said.
Catch Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, HaHa, Lee Kwang Soo, Kim Jong Kook and, Song Ji Hyo on SBS's "Running Man" every Sunday at 6:25 p.m. KST.
