Sonic the Hedgehog is going back to his roots in the new footage released for "Sonic Mania." Sega Raw released some fresh footage that features the classic gameplay fans have grown to love.
The latest episode of "Sega Raw" revealed what fans should expect to see from the upcoming new game title from another of Sonic the Hedgehog's adventures. "Sonic Mania" offers a fresh setting that brings players back to basic gameplay.
Fans of the game franchise will be glad to see a new technique, the drop and dash in "Sonic Mania." The gameplay footage shows Sonic execute the technique so he can quickly roll over to the farthest side.
There seems to be no boring levels in "Sonic Mania." Outside of the interesting and challenging hurdles, the game also features colorful and vibrant backdrop settings, which only heighten the game experience and excitement in every stage.
According to Sega's official website, "Sonic Mania" allows players to choose their characters. They can play either as Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles or Tails. The 2D side-scrolling platform also offers new moves for Tails and Knuckles-- the flight and climbing skills, respectively. Each captivating Zones entice the adventurer in every player, since they contain secrets and new hidden paths.
"Sonic Mania" is due for release in the second quarter or Spring of 2017. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. According to Siliconera, Sega recently announced the availability of the game for the Nintendo Switch. A Collector's Edition of the game is also now available for pre-order at a limited time only.
Sega's plan to bring back its blue mascot back to the glory of its peaceful days may just work with their latest game title. Fans are now crossing their fingers that "Sonic Mania" will not disappoint.
