Fans of the "Sonic" franchise would rejoice at the news of a new retro-styled title called "Sonic Mania" will be coming out soon. In celebration of the Blue Blur's 25th Anniversary this year, SEGA will also be giving out an equally retro-styled collector's edition for the game for fans to enjoy.
According to Dualshockers, the Collector's Edition of "Sonic Mania," which features a number of goodies for the most nostalgic (and veteran) "Sonic" fans that includes a 12″ collectible statue of Sonic (with the feature of having a "SEGA" startup sound button), the game's download code imprinted on a metallic collector's card, a SEGA cartridge with a golden cast ring, and a deluxe collector's box in the art style of the SEGA Genesis.
The "Sonic Mania: Collector's Edition" will be released for the consoles and PC at the price of $69.99. "Sonic Mania" is a throwback to the retro 2D previous titles of the series. Other than boasting the same pixel-style art, the game features brand-new levels to the series, as well as areas from the classic "Sonic the Hedgehog," "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," "Sonic CD," and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles" brought back and reimagined.
Fans would be overjoyed with this new "Sonic" game in the entire series that would hopefully make up for the previous recent titles that didn't make quite the cut.
In earlier news, the official Twitter page of "Sonic the Hedgehog" reports that "Sonic Mania" has been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch. Its release date for the upcoming console shares the same release window for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
"Sonic Mania" will release for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2017.
