We've known video game legend Hideo Kojima to be one of the innovators of the horror genre, even when he and Guillermo del Toro used to work on the cancelled "Silent Hills." But who knew Kojima wasn't really into horror this whole time?

According to a recent interview with IGN, Kojima mentioned that he won't be getting into the horror genre anytime soon. Even with the upcoming "Death Stranding" and its seemingly creepy overtones, the "Silent Hill" director actually gets "scared very easily."

"Actually, this is true of Alfred Hitchcock as well as Steven Spielberg," said Kojima. "Because they scare easily, because I scare easily, it's actually easy for us to make something that is scary, because we understand what is scary."

"But while in that process, we're constantly imagining, like, terrifying situations so it ends up giving me bad dreams," he added. "That's the reason why I don't want to make a horror game."

In an earlier report by Gamespot, Kojima proved that knowing truly what's scary for us was presenting it in the "P.T./Silent Hills" demo. Working with del Toro actually helped it with the "Silent Hill" director even joking that players would be needing an extra pair of pants when playing because, "[They] are aiming for a game that will make you sh*t your pants."

Back in the interview, Kojima explained to IGN that scaring people effectively can be done by showing them something that is "slightly out of the ordinary." He also added that it is the element of the "unknown" that adds to it.

"Slightly off, but at first glance, they don't know what it is about it that is unusual," said Kojima. "When you do something like this, it confuses the mind, and that becomes unnerving for the person who sees it."

In other news, Kojima also mentioned about "Death Stranding" coming to the PS4 instead of a next generation console like a possible PS5. The game will also be planned in having a sequel and possibly a lot more.
