A new comedy exploring the words of the Bible is currently in the works on CBS.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has given a pilot order commitment to Bible Comedy, a multi-camera comedy from "The Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki and writer Patrick Walsh.

The project titled "Living Biblically," is based on the book "The Year of Living Biblically" written by AJ Jacobs. According to the site, the TV series will center a modern-day man at a crossroads in his life who decides to live according to the Bible. Casting information and production details are expected to be announced on a later date.

Galecki has been known for playing Dr. Leonard Hofstader on the hit sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" where he stars opposite Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, Simon Helberg and Mayim Bialik. Walsh is a co-executive producer for "2 Broke Girls."

"Living Biblically" joins fellow CBS pilot from "How I Met Your Mother" co-creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. Titled "Distefano," the series centers on Izzy and Chris, two 20-somethings raising their newborn daughter and merging their meddling families - one Puerto Rican, one Italian.

Last year, a spinoff about Parson's character, Sheldon Cooper has been reported as a project in development on CBS. Deadline reported that the spinoff is being planned as a prequel described as a "Malcolm in the Middle-esque single-camera family comedy centered on the child prodigy Sheldon character at age 12."

"Big Bang Theory" co-creator and showrunner Chuck Lorre and Parsons are attached to produce the project alongside co-showrunner Steve Molaro.

"The Big Bang Theory" remains one of CBS' top-rated sitcoms. Now on its current tenth season, the show continues to deliver laugh out loud storylines while also allowing its characters to evolve in their own ways. Recently, they welcomed an addition to the Wolowitz family through Howard and Bernadette's baby.
