Following the departure of the original BEAST members from Cube Entertainment, the agency has announced that the group will be reconfigured as a three-person group consisting of Jang Hyunseung and two new members.
Cube Entertainment's Chairman Hong Seung Song announced his plans for BEAST on Feb. 10. He commented that the group, which has debuted in 2009 and delivered hits such as "Shock" and "Breathe" has earned a spot as one of the top idols and Cube Entertainment's representative boy group.
He also revealed that Hyunseung, an original member of BEAST, and two new members are preparing to reform BEAST. "We ask that you show much love and support henceforth to the new BEAST and Jang Hyunseung," Hong said, as quoted by Soompi.
However, in a recent statement, it appears the original members of BEAST as well as Hyunseung were not apprised of the plan to reconfigure the group. Hyunseung himself said that he was not made aware of plans to reconfigure BEAST and that he would be part of it, Soompi reported.
"What are they talking about... This is the first time I've heard of this since I was born...And I don't plan on [rejoining BEAST] either. I used to think that singers giving explanations through Instagram was uncool, but I couldn't just leave this alone," Hyunseung said. The message has been deleted from his account.
Ever since they left the group and transferred to their own agency, Around US Entertainment, original members Doojoon, Junhyung, Yoseob, Gikwang and Dongwoon have been unable to introduce themselves ass BEAST or members of BEAST due to the fact that rights to the group's name belong to the Cube Entertainment.
The now-former members also expressed shock at Cube Entertainment's decision, saying they were still in the middle of discussing BEAST's trademark until Feb. 9. They further commented that they will discuss the matter with Cube Entertainment.
As for Around US Entertainment, an agency representative said that they are still in the midst of contacting people to verify the news and get further details.
