Paramount has moved the release date of "World War Z" sequel from 2017 to 2019.

The studio has yet to comment on the reason for the delay. However, reports say that Paramount had no choice but to pull out the movie from its 2017 scheduled releases, Syfy Wire reported.

Meanwhile, "World War Z" star Brad Pitt is slated to make his first space film in a film called "Ad Astra." The film is reportedly a long-development project from James Gray and Ethan Gross. Pitt has dabbled in science fiction films in the past but this will be the first time that the actor will be starring in a movie that will be set in space.

Formerly titled as "To the Stars," the film follows a slightly autistic engineer who ventured into space to find out what happened to his father who vanished for twenty years after setting out to search for extra-terrestrial life on Neptune.

Gray is also known for his work in "The Immigrant," "We Own the Night," "Two Lovers" and the upcoming "Lost City of Z" which reportedly eyed Pitt in the lead role earlier. The film will reportedly start filming earlier this year or come summer.

In an interview, Gray said that inspiration came from a report he read about NASA's plan to find emotionally underdeveloped people to travel in Space. He said that the upcoming sci-fi film is meant to be more conceptual than visual, Slash Film reported.

As for "World War Z 2," the project's script has reportedly gone through several drafts and has lost its director J.A. Bayona to "Jurassic World 2." Reports say that David Fincher is reportedly leading all candidates to direct the film.

Fincher has worked with Pitt in "Fight Club," "Seven," and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Fincher has not done a film installment for a franchise since he directed "Alien 3" in 1992.
