Hugh Jackman is ready to hang his Adamantium claws and retire as Wolverine as "Logan" marks his final outing as the mutant hero. In a recent interview, Jackman shared his thoughts on the future of the role and whether he'd be back for another film.

Jackman has played the role of Wolverine for 17 years, and the character is almost synonymous to the actor. Although he has appeared in multiple successful features, Wolverine is Jackman's most notable and successful role.

When asked if "Logan" really is his final rodeo as Wolverine, the Australian actor told The New York Times, When I had the script, I was like, 'Yes.' And when I was shooting the movie, yes. As I sit here today, yes." However, he kept his doors open for a possible comeback in the future, saying only who knows what will happen in three years.

He added that with every film he does, "there's been a gnawing turmoil that I hadn't really nailed it, fully." He also feels it with "Logan," although a little less compared to the rest.

The 48-year-old star also recounted how he got the role and his screen-test with co-stars Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen, with Stewart noting that Jackman was a modest man even then.

As for "Logan" director James Mangold, he commented that Jackman saw that movie as his last performance as Wolverine and gave it his all. "By thinking of this as his curtain call, he arrived every day on set electric. I don't think anyone can see this film and call it a paycheck film for him," Mangold said.

Meanwhile, Jackman recently received another treatment for skin cancer. CNN reported that Jackman is undergoing treatment for basal cell carcinoma. His first treatment for basal cell carcinoma was in 2013 and he's gone through it at least four times since.

Jackman assured fans that "all is well" thanks to "frequent body checks and amazing doctors." He also asked fans to always wear sunscreen to avoid developing skin cancer.
