Jahlil Okafor is back to the Philadelphia 76ers rotation after trade negotiation has failed. He returned to court in the game against Celtics on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Trade talks for Okafor has met the dead end, as reported by Philadelphia Inquirer. As a result the 21-year old center has rejoined the team in the Wednesday game against Boston Celtics. The Sixers was defeated 108-116 at the TD Garden in Boston.
Okafor only contributed 4 points, 4 blocks, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 17 minutes playing time. The loss has made Sixers now has 21-35 records and ranked in the bottom three of the Eastern Conference.
Prior to the game in Boston, the Sixers head coach Brett Brown has declared to put Okafor back in rotation, as reported by CBS Philadelphia. Coach Brown said that he would play Okafor in the game against Boston Celtics after the trade negotiation has failed.
“The trade talks fell down,” Coach Brown said. Later he continued about the trip to Boston with Okafor, “He’ll get on a plane and be with me in an hour and a half and I’ll put him in the game.”
Previously, Sixers was reported to have a serious negotiation with New Orleans Pelicans to trade the 6’11” center. However after two weeks of negotiation, he trade has not met the satisfying deal for both part. Subsequently, Okafor is back to 76ers rotation and the team’s front court is once again overcrowded.
This development does not make significant changes to the team’s roster. Sixers is still the only team in the league with three starting centers in Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Okafor. After the fail trade, Coach Brown does not have any good ideas to either utilize his clogged front court or to maximize their value in the trade market.
