Kevin Love knee injury has troubled him since December last year and recently he had a surgery in his left knee. As he is in the recovery process, his place in the NBA All-Star Game 2017 this weekend will be replaced by Carmelo Anthony.

The decision was taken by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, NBA reported. This made the 2017 NBA All-Star Game at Smoothie Center in New Orleans the 10th apperance of the New York Knicks forward in the All-Star Game.

Love has undergone an arthroscopic surgery on Feb. 14 to fix his troubling knee. He was expected to return to court in the next six week to bring back the Cavaliers back to its course..

Cleveland Cavaliers has relied on the offensive prowess of the 28-year-old forward to win the back-to-back NBA championship this season. However, Love has been battling the discomfort in his knee throughout the season. In December, he had a knee contusion after banging his knee with Lakers’ Larry Nance Jr.

Following a minor surgery and missing three games, Love returned to court a week later against the Nets. However, his knee still has not fully recovered and troubled his performance. According to coach Tyronn Lue, Love had played in three games with knee injury, ESPN reported.

Coach Lue admitted that he intended to sit Love in the game against Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 9, but he changed his decision and put Love on the court with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. However, the Cavs lost the game 109-118 despite 15 points and 12 rebounds contribution from Kevin Love.

In the interview after the game against the Thunder, coach Lue said the game did not give more damage to Love’s knee injury. Love still played for one more game against Nuggets on Feb. 11 before underwent surgery to fix loose bodies in his left knee.
