Angelina Jolie has broken her silence about her controversial divorce from Brad Pitt. In a recent interview, the "First They Killed My Father" director opened up Pitt as a father and her recent trip to Cambodia with the children.
Jolie appeared on the Feb. 21 broadcast of "Good Morning America" in which she gave a rare comment about her headline-making divorce from Pitt. The 41-year-old star was asked if she feels that the Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt divorce was a healthy option for the family.
"We are focusing on the health of our family, and so we will be stronger when we come out of this because that's what we're determined to do as a family," Jolie said, as quoted by E! News.
Despite reports claiming that Jolie filed for divorce after an alleged incident took place involving Pitt and one of the children inside a private plane and the subsequent child abuse allegations that came out thereafter, Jolie nevertheless came to Pitt's defense and said that he is a great father to the children. Jolie reiterated that she still thinks Pitt is a good parent and said that they will always be family.
Days after Jolie filed for divorce in September, Pitt faced an FBI investigation after he allegedly got into an altercation with 15-year-old adopted son Maddox. According to The Independent, the investigation was closed in November and no charges were filed against the actor. The former couple was reportedly in a heated custody battle, with Jolie wanting sole custody over their six kids.
The actress recently visited Cambodia with the children while working on her film "First They Killed My Father," which centers on the Cambodian genocide between 1975 and 1979.
Meanwhile, Jolie is reportedly in talks to do multiple movie projects including "Maleficent 2," "Catherine the Great and Potemkin: The Imperial Love Affair," and "The Spy Who Love."
