"Gotham" actress Jamie Chung plays the mutant teleporter Blink in the Fox's Marvel drama "X-Men" series. She is making a big jump from DC back to the Marvel universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chung has signed on to play the famed character Blink in the highly anticipated "X-Men" series. She is the second actor being cast. She will appear alongside "90210" actor Blair Redford, who is in talks to play as the strong-headed Native American leader Sam of the underground network.
Chung's character Blink, also known as Clarice Fong, was played by Chinese actress Fan Bingbing in the 2014 film "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Entertainment Weekly reported. She was first introduced in the "X-Men" comics back in 1994. She is remembered with the power of teleportation.
Marvel describes Blink as sarcastic and lively with a bit of boyish characteristics. She is naturally strong exuberant but was put into a difficult situation when a sudden and traumatic commotion came into her life. She slowly becomes herself again as she adjusts to the new environment that is quickly called home.
Chung's casting in the "X-Men" series would keep her at the Fox network. She currently plays another comic book character as Valerie Vale in "Gotham" and lent her voice in the Marvel Comics-based "Big Hero 6." She also made appearances in various roles on "Once Upon a Time" and "The Hangover Part II."
In the untitled "X-Men" series, two ordinary parents notice that their children possess mutant powers. The whole family must join an underground network of mutants to run away and fight to survive from a hostile government.
"X-Men" film director Bryan Singer will direct the "X-Men" series. "Burn Notice" screenwriter Matt Nix will serve as the showrunner. The executive producers are Nix, the franchise veterans Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, and Simon Kinberg, as well as Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb and "Daredevil" producer Jim Chory.
