After the trademark issue with their former talent management agency Cube Entertainment, KPop group "BEAST" has finally decided to change their band name to “Highlight”.
According to a report by Billboard, the group’s label Around US Entertainment, which was formed by the members Yoon Doo Joon, Yang Yo Seob, Yong Jun Hyung, Lee Gi Kwang and Son Dong Woon in December 2016, “Highlight” indicates the group’s capability to be “exceptional and standout” among others. It also represents their third studio album of the same title which was released in July last year.
In their recent Instagram post, “Highlight” members Son Dongwoon and Lee Gi Kwang shared their thoughts about the new name of their group. Furthermore, they also asked for the love and support of their fans for the new milestone of their career.
“BEAST BEAST BEAST is a beyond painful name. There will be lots of people who say we changed our name too easily, or that they can’t get used to it, but we really tried hard. This hurts us more than anybody else, but we’re grateful. It will be painful to get used to the new name, but we can only pray that we all get used to it soon. Please support Highlight,” said Son as quoted by Soompi.
Meanwhile, Lee also wrote: “The name that we have carried for so long, ‘BEAST.’ It was a name that stuck by us through it all and made us happy but it’s time to let it go. We’re now in a position where we can start fresh with ‘Highlight.’ Right now lots of people are probably feeling strange and unfamiliar with the new name, but we ask for your love and support. We’ll work hard. Watch over us”.
The band currently composed of five original members including Yoon , Yang , Yong , Lee and Son. Its former member Jang Hyun Seung departed from the group in April 2016 to pursue his career as a solo artist under the management of Cube Entertainment.
