"Taken" is taking on a new form - as a television series. Adapting a popular movie trilogy into a TV series is a big challenge but the reviews are in and the show is set to make a big splash soon although it will need some push to differentiate it from other action TV series.
A Prequel TV Series
One of the best things about Liam Neeson's "Taken" is the fact that he takes full advantage of his "particular set of skills" to get to his intended target. In the movie trilogy, someone is always kidnapped or removed and it's up to Neeson's character to get to his man while blowing things up and killing everyone with very little effort along the way.
The TV series "Taken" on NBC introduces Bryan Mills (Clive Standen "Vikings") as a former Green Beret recruited to work for secret military operations. According to Cinema Blend, Mills will work for Christina Hart - leader of a group of CIA agents tasked to do underground missions for the government.
From the get go, Mills clearly has the set of skills he needs to thrive and survive in his new career. With the help of other agents, he takes on various missions and succeeds - along with some action reminiscent of the popular movie trilogy.
Skill Set Intact
IGN's review of the popular TV series is somehow positive as it focuses on some flaws or the missing elements in the movie such as terrorism and espionage. However, the series itself is not necessarily a prequel. The series is already packed with action of Bryan Mills handing out counterattacks by hand and weapon to various enemies.
TV series "Taken" will premiere in NBC on February 27. Of course, Liam Neeson's not on the show but movie trilogy creator Luc Besson is back to get the show on track.
