NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks waives Brandon Jennings to open spot for Chasson Randle

New York Knicks released Brandon Jennings for the new point guard Chasson Randle from NBA D-League. Previously, Randle is the member of New York Knicks affiliate team in the NBA Development League the Westchester Knicks.

Jennings is released after playing in 58 games with the Knicks this season, averaging 8.6 points and 4.9 assists per game. He was acquired by the Knicks in the off-season from Detroit Pistons, but failed to make impact to the team.

The Knicks has struggled this season with its internal problem. Starting with a feud between its star player Carmelo Anthony and team president Phil Jackson. Knicks also has a hard time to improve its poor defense. However, according to New York Times, the team hasn’t lost hope to enter the playoffs.

Although head coach Jeff Hornacek has seen his team playing very inefficiently, but he maintains his optimism to bring the team to winning result. Currently, the Knicks ranked in the bottom six of the defensive efficiency ratings just above Trail Blazers, Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Lakers and Denver Nuggets. The Knicks allowed its opponents to score average 109.4 points per possession and let them grabbing an average 11.8 offensive rebound against the Knicks.

In order to elevate the team, New York Knicks decided to bring in Randle and waived Jennings, as reported by FOX Sports. Knicks expected Randle to give proper backup to Derrick Rose in the playmaking and ball distribution.

Randle went undrafted in 2015, and he joined the olden State Warriors Summer League before playing overseas for one season. He joined Westchester Knicks in October 201, following the Knicks decision to waive him after preseason. He was one of the top scored in the NBA D-League with 21 points average per game and three assists.

His skillful ball distribution attracted the 76ers that signed him for 10-day-contract in January, but he was waived by the Sixers.
