Cable music channel Mnet will be hosting the Special M Countdown in China this Saturday, May 28 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, production firm CJ E&M announced on Tuesday.
The event will be star-studded with top Chinese and Korean artists expected to attend.
Famous celebrities and performers to watch out for from Korea include born to beat (BTOB) boy band; five-member pop rock band Five Treasure (FT) Island; six-member girl group G-Friend; and former Super Rookies girl group T-ara.
The event will also feature SHAKE IT hitmaker Sistar; six-member boy band VIXX; K-pop girl group Secret; six-member girl band under LOEN Entertainment Fiestar; and Cosmic Girls (also known as WSJN), a Korean-Chinese girl group created by Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment.
Meanwhile, China will be represented by Taiwanese Madopop singer and actress Wu Ying Chie; "Queen of C-pop" Jolin Tsai; talent contest grand winner Li Yunchu; and Shanghai-based Chinese idol group and AKB848's second sister outside Japan SNH48.
Special MCountdown in China is an international version of South Korea's music show MCountdown. The concert will be aired in Korea on June 2 at 6PM on Mnet.
Mnet (which is short for Music Network) is a music channel in South Korea managed by CJ E&M, a unit of CJ Group. Most of Mnet programs with a live audience are broadcasted and recorded in its CJ E&M Center Studio in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. M! Countdown as one of its pioneering shows.
In 2013, Mnet Global's website was officially changed to MWave, although other sites are not affected.
