A number of Asian stars appear in the Hollywood film "Independence Day: Resurgence" which is set to premiere on June 24 both in China and North America.
The science fiction film, which is a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster hit "Independence Day," will star Chinese actress Angelababy and Singaporean actor Chin Han. Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox also appear in the movie, China.org reported.
Angelababy will portray the role of Rain Lao, the best Chinese pilot assigned at the moon base, while Han will act as the leader of the Chinese Space Squadron.
Apart from them, Taiwan-born Australian actress Grace Huang will also appear in "Independence Day: Resurgence."
The original "Independence Day" movie is considered as the highest-grossing film of 1996. The movie grossed more than US$817.4 million worldwide.
In the meantime, USA Today has hinted that the upcoming film which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox will be another big hit.
Commenting on the trailer of the movie released recently, the news outlet pointed out that the movie has all the elements of a "blockbuster sequel."
In the "Independence Day" Resurgence" extended trailer, the destruction of landmarks and the "generic pretty boy protagonist" are all present, which, according to USA Today, are among the elements of the original film.
"Independence Day: Resurgence" was directed by Roland Emmerich of Centropolis Entertainment.
