Neeson had earlier experience with the motion-capture technology when he played a giant tree character in the "A Monster Calls" movie last year. Hinds called his friend for an advice, and according to The Independent, Hinds said that he sent pamphlets and other stuff to him. He said that Neeson looked more elegant than the character he played in "Justice League," the supervillain Steppenwolf
"He’s old, tired, still trying to get out of his own enslavement to Darkseid," Hinds teased his character Steppenwolf in "Justice League." When Hinds was selected to play the villain, many critics are skeptical of him They doubted how the 64-year-old actor will play a character that was portrayed as a bulky and buff figure as the member of alien warriors of New Gods in the comics. It turned out, his character will be fully constructed using computer graphics, leaving only his eyes and mouth.
Hinds recalled his experience to take the scenes in a tight motion-capture suit to play Steppenwolf for "Justice League" as an embarrassing one, according to report from Comic Book. It was his first experience to perform a role in motion-capture with multiple cameras strapped to his body. Hinds and Neeson had played in two movies together, the 1981 fantasy movie "Excalibur" and the 2016 historical period drama "Silence."
