Yang Hyun-suk, CEO of YG Entertainment, has announced that not all five members of the BIGBANG group will enlist for the military at the same time.
According to Star News, the BIGBANG members have not talked about enlisting at the same time since the band started a decade ago. Yang, however, revealed that all will complete the required amount of time but did not divulge the details of when they will enlist.
"Eldest member T.O.P will enlist first and the other members will follow suit," Yang said, according to Soompi.
T.O.P, who is now 28 years old, needs to complete his military time before he turns 32. Other band members Taeyang, 28, G-Dragon, 27, Daesung, 27, and Seungri, 25, will all follow the suit in time.
"We are Korean, so we have to go someday, but I don't know when it's going to be. Until then, we'll just try hard to do what we get to do," G-Dragon, or Kwon Ji-yong, told Washington Post.
There are rumors that the K-pop artists will possibly enlist anytime this year or next year. Yang said their enlistment may be delayed a little further as the group is currently working on several music projects.
"BIGBANG's G-Dragon and Taeyang are planning on releasing solo albums next year," he revealed.
Meanwhile, last month, YG Entertainment canceled BIGBANG's guerilla concert to commemorate the group's 10th year anniversary due to safety concerns.
Organizers revealed that the concert was supposed to be a surprise, but news leaked as the company attempted to reserve a venue. Expressing worry about the possible huge influx of the number of fans, YG Entertainment decided to cancel the event.
