Park Bo Young made the right choice when she accepted the lead role in "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon." But what really inspired her to join the lineup for the JTBC series?
In a recent interview, the rising star admitted she has always been fascinated with dramas that would allow her to transform in some type of way. Hence, Park Bo Young never hesitated when she was offered to play as Do Bong Soon.
"I try to pick projects where I can play new types of roles," the actress shared as per Soompi. "I guess because I do this, I end up taking long breaks in between projects, and my fans aren't too happy about that."
The 27-year-old actress revealed her label initially opposed her decision to take part in "Oh My Ghostess." But because of her determination, Park Bo Young ended up playing Na Bong Sun's character.
"My company didn't want me to take the role because it would be too difficult for me. But I ended up doing so anyways because for me, the story and script is my number one priority," she explained.
More than the honor to play as a woman with superhuman strength, Park Bo Young thought she could deliver an important message about women by playing the titular role in "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon."
"I think there is a tendency to view female characters as consumer products. I was determined to find a project where this wasn't the case," the actress added.
She also liked the idea that Do Bong Soon does not have a passive personality. Park Bo Young added that she envied her character's power and independence. The success of "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" has placed her on the second spot of tvN's "The List 2017" which ranks the loveliest female celebrities.
