The premiere of MBC's newest historical drama "Ruler: Master of the Mask" was a success after coming off strong against its contenders "Suspicious Partner" and "Mystery Queen."
The Choi Kang Hee-starrer was dominating the Wednesday-Thursday 10:00 p.m. timeslot until Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun returned last night in "Ruler: Master of the Mask."
According to Soompi, the MBC series earned 9.7 percent in viewership for its opening, while the second episode recorded a rating of 11.6 percent. Tailing at number two was "Mystery Queen" with 8.7 percent for it latest broadcast, while Ji Chang Wook's "Suspicious Partner" placed third with 6.3 and 6.8 percent for its first two runs.
"Ruler: Master of the Mask" follows the story of Crown Prince Lee Sun (Yoo Seung Ho) who will battle it out against a greedy family who holds control of a certain country. Kim So Hyun, on the other hand, will play as his supportive love interest in the drama.
The young actress, who is known for her roles in "Moon Embracing the Sun" and "Hey Ghost, Let's Fight," caught the attention of the staff and her co-actors because of her disposition on the set of "Ruler: Master of the Mask."
"Kim So Hyun is cheerful and kind both on and off camera, making her the best energizer," an insider said. "Kim So Hyun's bright smile helps everyone on set have a good time while filming."
Despite her young age, the actress looks after her co-actors while the cameras are not rolling. In one of their recordings, Kim So Hyun provided a child actor with a hotpack in between takes to make sure that he is not cold.
The female lead would even exert an effort to make the people around her comfortable by starting a conversation with them. Catch Kim So Hyun in "Ruler: Master of the Mask" every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 p.m. only on MBC.
