BLACKPINK will be making a crossover from Korea to Japan!
The rising girl group has been confirmed to make their debut in Japan this summer. YGEX, a partnership between Korea's YG Entertainment and Japan's AVEX, made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that BLACKPINK is set to take the stage of Tokyo's Nippon Budokan on July 20 as per Allkpop.
After their debut show, the four-member K-pop act will also release their first ever Japanese mini album that will feature BLACKPINK's hit tracks "BOOMBAYAH," "WHISTLE," "STAY" and "Playing with Fire." The EP will go on sale on August 9.
The announcement was made right after YG Entertainment revealed that the girl group is currently gearing up for a comeback release next month. Although nothing is certain about the concept of their third release, fans are expecting that BLACKPINK will launch a summer-themed album in June.
Before their highly anticipated return, fans will get to see the girls at the 2017 Kwangwoon University Festival for their first outdoor performance since making their debut last August.
BLACKPINK will grace the event along with Akdong Musician, Bolppalgan4, Monday Kiz, Baek Ah Yeon, C Jamm, and Min Kyung Hoon of Buzz. The university festival will run from May 16 until 19.
Rose, Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo were first introduced as BLACKPINK with the release of "Square One" on August 8. They are the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment in seven years after 2NE1.
Shortly after making their debut, BLACKPINK immediately ranked second in terms of brand reputation, surpassing popular girl groups like Girls' Generation and TWICE. For the recent brand value rankings, the YG girl group placed fifth, according to Soompi.
In less than a year, BLACKPINK has achieved several milestones such as crossing the 100 million mark on YouTube for videos "BOOMBAYAH," "WHISTLE" and "Playing with Fire."
