Looks like love is on Christy Chung's side yet again as her boyfriend, Chinese actor Zhang Lunshuo, has asked for her hand in marriage.
On Sunday, June 5, 33-year old Zhang proposed to the 45-year-old Canadian actress at the taping of the Hubei TV show, Perhaps Love.
Christy apparently had no idea about Zhang's proposal beforehand. She was asked to sit on a chair on the stage as he sang and danced, along with four back-up dancers. When his performance ended, and the dancers walked off the stage, he started reciting his proposal speech.
"We began on Perhaps Love, so I think that at the end of the programme, we'll give everyone a better beginning, and the whole world will see I'm responsible to you, as I said I'd be," Zhang said.
"I hope I'll give you happiness, you'll always be happy, I hope you'll marry me," he said. He then knelt, took out the ring and said the words, "Will you marry me?"
The crowd started cheering in support, with some shouting "Marry him!" Christy was obviously stunned by the surprise proposal, but she collected herself and happily said, "I will."
After the successful proposal, Christy took to WeChat to thank Hubei TV, who was in on her now-fiancé's big secret. She revealed that she did not expect "to meet Lunshuo and find true love" on a show.
Zhang secretly invited his parent's and Christy's parents, along with her three daughters from her previous marriages, to the show. Christy was first married to Glen Ross, a British spa consultant, and then to Jon Yen, a Taiwanese record producer.
"I'm very touched and this is so romantic and thoughtful. No one has ever done this for me before. We only started filming the reality show last June - this proposal came just around this one year mark. How wonderful!" Christy said.
She revealed that she agreed to tie the knot with Zhang, "because we've been together for a year, I have a good understanding of his character, he's a responsible man who takes care of me, the kids, the family."
"I think love has no borders, no linguistic and age limits. I hope everyone can be like us. If you love, love bravely," she added.
