TVB’s veteran talent Patrick Tse is taking a break from shooting the remake of his classic TV drama ‘The Shell Game’ after suffering an injury from a car accident in Shenzhen, China.
Tse suffered a fracture on his left rib, according to medical tests.
The 79-year-old actor revealed that he was on his way to shoot the TV drama when a truck unexpectedly cut their lane. His driver attempted to pull a brake but their vehicle inevitably hit the truck.
The day of his accident, however, was not specified.
"My driver was anxious to avoid it. Three cars behind couldn't stop in time, hit us and it became a four-vehicle collision. Mainlanders really drive any way they want," Tse told the Apple Daily.
Tse was not wearing a seatbelt and was asleep during the accident, causing him to be hurled from his seat.
After the accident, the actor still managed to go to the studio where the TV drama is being filmed. He reportedly did a couple of scenes before his ribs suddenly started to ache.
He was taken to the hospital right away.
Tse is currently in Hong Kong taking some rest and is seeking medical treatment.
The date of his return to work has not been announced.
Tse, who is already 65 years in the Hong Kong entertainment industry, initially starred in the first season of ‘The Shell Game’ and portrayed the character of Law Sei Hoi, who is considered as one of the greatest gamblers in all of Southern China in 1980.
A year later he also portrayed the same character in the second season of the TV Drama.
