A group of MAMAMOO fans named "MOOMOO" have teamed up with "Tree Planet" to create the "MAMAMOO Forest" to celebrate the second anniversary of the girl group.
Fans will be creating the forest with a variety of trees in Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do, where two members of MAMAMOO (Whee In and Hwa Sa) grew up. The fans have voiced their excitement to give MAMAMOO the "star forest" as a special present. They have named it the "MAMAMOO Forest." This forest will also help in developing the land by providing clean air in the area.
The fundraising period for the project was from November 21 to December 22, 2015. The fundraising is being managed by a fundraising management solution called DONUS (donus.org). The site of the MAMAMOO Forest could change depending on the amount of money raised.
The fans are scheduled to start planting trees in the MAMAMOO Forest by spring. However, this timeline can be changed depending on the municipal government's policy.
If the fundraising goal of KRW 5 million ($4,252) is reached, then a small-sized forest will be planted. If KRW 20 million ($17,000) is raised, then a large, luxuriant forest will be planted, and the signboard opening ceremony will be held.
MAMAMOO gained the title of "Prepared Rookie" before their debut because of their outstanding performances, and fantastic vocals. The girls have gone on to become one of South Korea's most popular female groups.
