CW's "The Originals" has been renewed for a fourth season, but since it was not placed on the 2016 fall schedule, "The Originals" Season 4 is set to premiere on January 2017. Recent reports hinted that there is a chance for Danielle Campbell and Claire Holt to reprise their roles as Davina Claire and Rebekah Mikaelson.
Campbell hinted via Inquisitor that Davina may return in "The Originals" Season 4, but nothing was certain since the producers have not finalized the seasons' storyline. During the previous season, Davina was killed when she sacrificed herself to save her friends from the ancestor's wrath.
It would be exciting to see how the writers could work on a twist to revive her character in Season 4, but since "The Originals" is a supernatural series, it does not seem impossible. The actress further teased that if Davina were to return, there is a likelihood for her to have more story arcs.
Meanwhile, Holt said that Rebekkah is a vital character that is why she returns every season; however, she could not confirm if she would be back as a regular on the show, since plans were not final yet. She did express in Access Hollywood that she was attached to "The Originals." She loved her character and the people [co-stars and crew] that she works with, and admitted that it was difficult to let go.
The third season of the "The Originals" was left open-ended with a lot of possibilities that can be put into play. Reports also add that aside from working on a different and more exciting storyline, the series also added some new characters.
It is also rumored that Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, the Salvatore brothers of Mystic Falls, will be included in the upcoming "The Originals" Season 4.
