The cast of "Code Black" is expanding for the show's upcoming second season on CBS.
The medical drama has added three new recurring players to play residents in the fictional ER of Angels Memorial Hospital, Deadline reported. The actors are being eyed to become series regulars later on, which includes Nafessa Williams (Twin Peaks), Noah Gray-Cabey (Heroes: Reborn) and Emily Tyra (Flesh and Bone).
Williams will portray the role of a former child star Charlotte Piel who decided to leave her acting career to pursue medicine instead. She returns to her adoptive home, Los Angeles, to be a resident at Angels Memorial.
Gray-Cabey has landed the role of sweet and affable Elliot Han. A guy who excelled in school, Han has the tendency to become completely overwhelmed by medical catastrophes that come in and out of the ER regularly.
Lastly, Tyra will take on the role of street-smart Noa Kean, who is also a surfer. Despite growing up in a tough neighborhood, she managed to graduate at the top of her class at a California university. Some other notable descriptions of Tyra include: confident, defiant, unpretentious and impatient for the foolish and the over privileged.
Additionally, "Code Black" is also looking to cast a male actor to co-lead with Marcia Gay Harden, TV Line has learned.
Early casting intel reveals that "Code Black" Season 2 is on the hunt for an actor to play Colonel David Willis, a onetime combat doctor who has served three tours in Afghanistan.
Willis is described as heroic, blunt, irreverent and rule-breaking. He will be introduced in the second season as a mentor, set to teach attendings and residents new war-tested techniques.
"Code Black" Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10PM on CBS.
