“Grey's Anatomy” Season 13 may finally put an end to the longtime rift between Owen and Nathan.
Series star Martin Henderson has addressed his character's deep history and issue with Kevin McKidd's Owen Hunt in a report from Entertainment Weekly. "In season 13, it looks like relationship is going to be healed," Henderson told the publication.
"From Nathan's point of view, he's really wanting to bury the hatchet and actually move on."
McKidd for his part has not yet commented on this "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 rumor, but it is still likely that the duo will be more open to fixing their broken ties as the new season rolls out this fall.
Owen and Nathan's rift rooted from a major unfortunate event while they were still working in Afghanistan with Owen's sister. When Nathan showed up in Grey Sloan Memorial in Season 12, viewers learned that Owen blamed Nathan for the demise of her sister.
Throughout "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12, Nathan has been rejected by Owen's circle, including Meredith. However, the story plotted a major twist when Meredith and Nathan hooked up in an episode. While this was a shocker to many, series star Ellen Pompeo said that Nathan and no other man can ever replace Derek in Meredith's life.
According to TV Line, Pompeo reiterated that no matter how many men arrives in Meredith's life, Derek Shepherd, aka McDreamy, will always be her one great love.
As to whether Mer and Nathan's little fling will blossom into something more, Henderson said in June that it will be one of the storylines fans should follow in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13. For now, the secret lovers are just enjoying each other's company, and it is still up to the writers whether their relationship will develop into something serious.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 bows on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8PM on ABC.
