South Korean actor Lee Jin Wook has been placed on a travel ban amid the sexual abuse claim of a woman identified only as "A." The two have also revealed conflicting text messages..
The agency of Lee, C&CO ENS, released a statement detailing the reason behind the travel ban. The statement reads: "The travel ban placed on Lee Jin Wook is simply to expedite the investigation, and has nothing to do with issues of credibility or honesty." Lee was scheduled for a commercial shoot on July 18, and his agency noted that it was pre-arranged even before the sexual assault claims surfaced. Lee did go through with the shoot and went to the police station after for questioning, Soompi reported.
Aside from explaining the travel ban, the press release also talked about the doubtful claims of the plaintiff. The press release said that they felt they needed to tell the truth due to the false claims made by the plaintiff.
C&CO ENS said in a statement that A claimed she did not meet with Lee with interest, but during their dinner in July 12, she expressed that she was a huge fan and that she "liked him for a long time." The day after the dinner and the alleged sexual assault, the plaintiff then sent messages to the mutual acquaintance who introduced them to each other. The plaintiff reportedly talked about the franchise in Gangnam that they were set to open together with Lee.
The agency added that it is doubtful that the plaintiff reported the assault only on July 14. She also visited the hospital before filing the complaint but only submitted the injury report on July 17. The injury report was submitted only a day after Lee filed a countersuit. The agency of Lee is asking an apology form the plaintiff as he reportedly suffered severe damage in his reputation.
Lee also said in a statement that the plaintiff asked him to go to her home to fic something and even sent him the password to her security door, All KPop reported. The side of A claimed that the messages that Lee released were indeed from A but were sent to an acquaintance.
The side of A also revealed, "On the night of the incident, she received a call from a number she didn't recognize. After deciding to pick it up, it was Lee Jin Wook." A's side said that she did not give her number to Lee after having dinner and that he offered to repair something at her home but she declined. Lee reportedly also parked around the neighborhood where A lives in order to find her address.
The investigation is still ongoing.
