Conan Stevens from "Game of Throne" shared about what why he decided to join the cast of one of Philippine most awaited reboot series, "Encantadia." There were speculations that the film bared strong similarities to "Game of Thrones" that GMA Network had to give a standing order to the production team that it should not look like the original HBO series.
Stevens made an appearance during the "Encantadia" Press Conference on July 13 to answer several questions the media had for him. The actor came to the Philippines for a vacation, but was convinced by the production team of GMA Network to be part of the cast. GMA Network News reported that the actor considered the stint believing it was a good career move. He shared that he built his career in countries such as India, China and Thailand, and adding the Philippines would mean he could bring home an even larger group of audience.
Meanwhile, the creator of "Encantadia," Mark Reyes, insisted that he was not aiming to make "Encantadia" similar to "Game of Thrones." He denied the speculations about his attempt to create a Filipino version of the International series. He said that the elements for "Encantadia" was raw since the original came out in 2005, prior to "Game of Thrones."
Reyes, however, admitted that "Game of Thrones" served him inspiration. Rappler reported that Reyes made it intentional that the opening credits of "Encantadia" would pay homage to "Game of Thrones," but he ensured that he would follow GMA Network's standing order that they would not make the show look like "Game of Thrones."
