"Orange is the New Black" Season 5 will reportedly see Alex putting more faith on Piper. The upcoming season is also said to highlight on the nurture of relationships, following Sam Healy and Lolly Whitehill characters' challenges in the previous season.

"Orange is the New Black" previous seasons have been setting their highlight on their female stars. Piper Chapman and Alex Vause, for instance, have given fans more exciting scenes in the show more than other characters' effects on viewers, Christian Daily reported. In the upcoming Season 5, however, new stories and twists will reportedly be revealed.

In "Orange is the New Black" Season 4, Sam Healy's childhood memories were highlighted together with his mentally-ill mother. The flashbacks showed the viewers why he has always displayed traumatic reactions to events and even grew differently in terms of social interaction.

Before the "Orange is the New Black" Season 4 ended, Lolly Whitehill was added to the roster of characters, an inmate that bore history of mental illness as well. The relationship of these two characters, Sam Healy and Lolly Whitehill, in "Orange is the New Black" Season 4 resulted in a friendship that enlightened viewers on how to deal with mental health issues. The scenes of an authentic friendship with these two characters became the most touching part of the "Orange is the New Black" Season 4.

Michael Harney, who played the role of Sam Healy, has no idea yet if he is to come back on the upcoming "Orange is the New Black" Season 5. He added that he enjoyed his role and felt comfortable with the show's writers as he did find them very easy to deal with.

On the other hand, the "Orange is the New Black" has received negative reactions when a lesbian character died on the fourth season.  Samira Wiley, who played Poussey Washington, told in her recent interview that it is part of the production's decision to end her character to connect the issue with Eric Gardner.

"Orange is the New Black" creator Jenji Kohan previously said that Season 4 will be the series' darkest season and, according to critics, the statement was true, Bustle reported. "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 released date is not yet revealed.
