Jessy Mendiola was on fire as she ramped the stage in a one-piece red swimsuit during FHM Philippine's 100 Sexiest Women Victory Party held at the Valkyrie Night Club. Ranking only 23 in the FHM public poll last year, she was announced as this years' winner. The actress, however, was bashed online due to the speech she made about winning against crowned beauty queen, Pia Wurtzbach.
Garnering a total of 589,792 votes, Mendiola emerged on the stage and danced to the beat of Calvin Harris and Rihanna's "This is what you Came For" showing off her sexy body. According to Philippine Star Global Entertainment, during the actress' acceptance speech, she said it felt surreal.
Mendiola thanked the people who voted for her and said that she won over beauty queen Wurtzbach. Instead of being confidently beautiful with a heart, she said she was confidently sexy with a heart and hopes that she could serve as an inspiration to women as well.
Since Mendiola has received a lot of bashing from her critics due to the issue with Luis Manzano (whom the actress is currently linked to) and Angel Locsin's break-up, her critics continued to bash her more when she gave a statement about winning against Wurtzbach who only ranked 16th in the poll. However, Wurtzbach defended Mendiola, according to GMA News Online. The Miss Universe Winner tweeted that she saw nothing wrong with what she said and only saw a girl who was ecstatic with the recognition.
