Along with Nina Dobrev, Tristin Mays is set to return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 to reprise her role as Sarah Salvatore.
Although Sarah's storyline is yet to be explored, it is speculated that she would return to Mystic Falls to help Damon and Enzo. To back the speculation, executive producer Julie Plec mentioned before that Damon will be needing someone in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, Yahoo reported. This may mean that Sarah's return may save Damon and Enzo from Season 7's finale fallout.
Sarah will be a suitable savior and her return gels well with the finale season, which is going to be dark as a new villain is also making an entry. Plec confirmed this and it has really upped the excitement factor of the show.
Sadly, Mays might not have a long stint in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 as she will also be filming for CBS' "Macgyver" reboot, TVLine reported.
As for Matt Donovan (played by Zach Roerig), his comeback was confirmed during San Diego Comic-Con 2016. It looks like the finale season is going to be a treat for viewers as many original cast members are coming back to reprise their popular roles.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is expected to premiere on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
